Saturday in the Summer
There is a movie from the mid-90's I believe it was, called Multiplicity. Michael Keaton stars as a workaholic father who, after getting tired of always having to choose between his responsibilities at work and at home, finds a way to clone himself. One "Doug" (his character's name in the movie) gets to go to work...and one gets to stay home with the family. Well of course since we are dealing with a comedy here, the plan backfires on him, making his situation worse. He nearly loses everything but figures out how to appreciate what he had, save the day, live happily ever after, make you laugh AND make you cry...all within a two-hour timeframe. You just have to love those Hollywood endings. Of course in real life things are just a wee bit different. I must admit though that while the thought of two or three or even more "Donalds" running around loose out there would definitely scare a few people (HA!), there are times when I wish I had another "me" to take up the slack and make my days just a little bit easier. But alas, that isn't going to happen. For now it is just little old me to get the job...or jobs...done every day. Which is why I am writing this blog at 2 o'clock in the damn morning...lol.
Well I am putting the finishing touches on this day and looking back I have to say that it was a really really good one all around. I ended last night with a really good nighf's sleep. It was much needed, hard earned, and the perfect way to start off my day today. Got up and went for a quick mile and a quarter run. Then I mowed and watered the lawn, which has GOT to be good for a few burned calories. We have a big lawn and it was hot as hell out there, so that is good enough for me...lol. Had two great parties to go to back-to-back today as well. I am proud to report that while both events were absolutely LOADED with food...GREAT food....I was still strong all day long. Stuck to nothing all day but salads, fruit and one bbq-ed piece of chicken...and that's it. Not the easiest task for me...but I got through it. After getting home around 11 o'clock and FINALLY getting my party animal daughter to sleep, I decided to put my own sleep on the back burner for awhile and headed to the basement. Tired as I was, I cranked out a full blown workout featuring 300 reps with the weights AND a kick-ass ab workout too. All while watching DVR-ed episodes of NCIS...my new obsession show, by the way...SO GOOD! :)
Thanks to Ilana and Jason for throwing an AWESOME party today and for letting us all be a part of it. So happy for Mia...congrats again on her first birthday! And thanks also to Matt and Sylvia...for the invite to your barbecue. Any time at your house is a good time...really glad we are neighbors. Well it is that time again. I am going to upload this blog in a few minutes and then hit the sack. Another big day ahead for us tomorrow. Can't wait til it happens so that I can tell you ALL about it!
Thanks for checkin' in...hope you're enjoying your weekend so far!
