Darkness falls across the land. The midnight hour is close at hand. Okay, I was listening to "Thriller" by Michael Jackson on my ipod earlier today…so what? LOL. It really IS just about the midnight hour here as I type this though. So I thought it was appropriate. I have also been sitting here at my computer, listening to the sound of crickets out my window, reflecting on the day that was. Which as it happens, was a pretty good one all around. It is a really cool thing to me to find out that after all these years I can still be pleasantly surprised from time to time. Started off my morning with my usual 2 mile walk to the train. Then another half mile or so from Penn Station to my office. Stopped at Dunkin Donuts on my way in to get an iced-t. It is fresh brewed, big as hell and only 99 cents…an awesome deal. And take my word for it when I tell you that that is the ONLY reason you would catch me in a Dunkin Donuts. No, really…I swear! Ha ha ha . Anyway, got on the elevator in my building right after that with just one other person. An older guy who I have seen from time to time in the building but don't KNOW by any means. As soon as the doors close, the guy turned to me and complimented me on all the weight I had lost. He told me he has seen me in the building for awhile…can tell how much I have lost…congratulated me and wished me luck for the future. He got off a few floors before me and I rode that one single compliment up to my floor and for most of the day.

Up until a few years ago, if I ever saw someone looking at me, or even worse if they asked if they could "just say something" to me, I always assumed it was something negative because of the way I looked and felt about myself. And usually I was right on the money. So nowadays it is nice when total strangers go out of their way to offer me a compliment from time to time. They have no clue I bet, but I definitely appreciate it. As for the rest of my day, I took advantage of the beautiful summer weather and went for a two mile walk at lunch today while running some errands. That was 381 calories burned this morning on my walk, and another 350 or so at lunchtime (according to Endomondo). Tonight I was back down in the man cave for a nice lengthy session with some light weights, followed by a good long ab routine. Meghan and Lori even decided to join me for a little while, which was really cool too. Trying to push to make the whole "family workout" a regular thing. Baby steps for now though. Not much else to report, although I am going to wish a VERY Happy Birthday to my wife Lori. I love you honey and I hope you had a really good day today. Looking forward to being out in the summer sun for the even bigger celebration on Sunday! And that's it for me for tonight folks. It has been a loooong day and my alarm will be going off bright and early in just a few hours. Enjoy the start to your day tomorrow. Try to pay someone a compliment. Whether you know them or not, whether you realize it or not, I bet it makes them feel good!

G'nite…thanks for checkin' in as always.

Cheer up…the weekend is right around the corner!
