A Great Weekend So Far...
Good Evening All! Just got home a little while ago and I am happy to say that the smile still hasn't faded from my lips. Definitely a great night...and a really good weekend so far I have to say. I am a pretty busy person, as anyone who has been trying to get ahold of me lately knows. But while having something to do every day over the course of a given weekend isn't exactly something surprising where I am concerned, it IS rare that my weekend is filled from start to finish with events that I am genuinely looking forward to. Everything is a little more enjoyable when you are doing it out of desire and anticipation rather than necessity...I think it is anyway. Well since I actually haven't mentioned it yet, the reason for my three-mile smile is because I was out tonight celebrating a milestone birthday for one of my all time favorite people. Miss Donna Marie Hayes...who I have proudly called my friend since we were about ten years old...kicked off a special year in grand fashion with me and about a hundred other family members and friends tonight. Donna is one of the absolute greatest people that the good lord ever created. If you know her already then you wouldn't even think of arguing that point with me...and if you don't know her the trust me, you're missin out on someone REALLY special. She has been by my side through everything imaginable for three decades now.
The good and the bad, the happy and the sad. I have had more laughs and good times with her than I could count on a dozen people's fingers. I am so proud to call her my friend...and I was honored to be a part of her big day. Cheers to you stupid ass...you deserve everything you got tonight and more! I am happy to say that I was good tonight too. A party is a party, but we all have our own missions in life. So with a plethora of fried, salted and gravy and sauce covered foods to choose from, I stuck to nothing all night but salad and steamed vegetables. You can't go wrong there I figure. Because not only will the scale still be waiting for me on Monday morning, but I have yet another event tomorrow that I am soooo looking forward to. Tomorrow morning...bright and early...I will be gathering at Yankee Stadium with a few of my fellow "PG Miracles" to take part in the Damon Runyon 5K run for Cancer. I actually deciced to skip my usual workout and run today...to give my weary body a break AND to not risk getting hurt the day before a big event. But trust me when I tell you I am ready. I'll tell you all about it in tomorrow night's blog. But that makes the beach with Meg on Friday, Donna's birthday party on Saturday, an a run inside Yankee Stadium on Sunday. Not a bad way to spend your weekend if I do say so myself. Hope you're all having a good one too!
