From corns to calluses, blisters to bunions, our feet aren’t often the most attractive parts of our bodies. And, according to an American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) survey, nearly 98 percent of women admit they have suffered from dry, cracked or irritated feet. But with proper care, there is no reason to be part of that statistic.
Here are some simple tips to get your feet looking attractive and healthy for sandal-donning weather.

  • Use mild soap when washing your feet; harsh soaps can cause irritation.
  • Hot water on the feet may feel good, but it’s tough on the skin and removes natural oils.
  • Soak feet for no more than ten minutes. Staying under water too long can severely dehydrate the skin.
  • Completely dry feet after bathing— especially in between toes.
  • Make sure to apply a moisturizer with a product that contains lactic acid, which helps to exfoliate and hydrate the feet.

At-Home Treatment

Before bed, place a liberal amount of petroleum jelly on your feet. Next, put on socks to prevent a mess on your sheets. As you sleep, your feet will absorb and lock in moisture.
